With vast forested areas, changing climate conditions, and growing populations in the wildland-urban interface, the threat of wildfires on Southern Vancouver Island has never been more pressing.
Meeting this challenge requires collaboration. Communities and First Nations across the region — including Tsawout, Central Saanich, North Saanich, Sidney, Langford, Metchosin, Sooke, View Royal, Saanich, Esquimalt, Juan de Fuca & Southern Gulf Islands have partnered to deliver FireSmart programs and strengthen wildfire resilience throughout the region.
Together, they form the Greater Victoria Community FireSmart and Resiliency Collaborative, working to build safer, more wildfire-resilient communities.
